If you’ve seen videos online using ultra-realistic AI avatars as spokespeople, you may have assumed they required fancy AI tools and big budgets. But creating your own AI avatar spokesperson is now surprisingly easy and accessible to anyone with just a smartphone!
In this post, I’ll provide a step-by-step walkthrough of how to make AI avatars with realistic voices, facial expressions, and motions – all for free using an app called CapCut.
CapCut is a user-friendly video editing app available for both iOS and Android. While it packs professional-grade features, the interface is simple enough for total beginners.
We’ll go through how to:
- Write a script for your AI avatar
- Choose an avatar character and generate lip-synced narration
- Tweak the avatar’s voice, outfit, and more
- Create a themed background or scene
- Seamlessly edit together clips
- Add graphics and effects to polish your video
With these steps, you can bring any AI avatar vision to life – whether for YouTube videos, business pitches, or just for fun. The only limit is your imagination!
The best part? You don’t need coding skills, 3D animation software, or thousands of dollars. All you need is CapCut, a mobile device, and a creative idea.
While AI avatar options are still limited compared to advanced tools, the quality is impressive considering it’s 100% free. And the technology will only improve over time.
Let’s dive in and I’ll show you how easy it is to make an AI video sidekick of your very own!
Why Use an AI Avatar Spokesperson?
AI avatars provide an intriguing new way to create video content without having to physically appear on camera. Here are some of the key benefits:
Anonymity: You can make videos while remaining anonymous. The AI avatar acts as the “face” while you stay behind the scenes. This is great if you want privacy or don’t want to worry about your on-camera presence.
Consistency: Your AI avatar has the same look and voice every time. You don’t have to worry about lighting, outfits, makeup touch-ups, etc. It’s always consistent.
Customization: You can pick an avatar that matches your brand, niche, or video style. Change up hair, clothing, and more. Plus you can adjust voices.
Scalability: It’s easy to produce lots of video content quickly and affordably. You avoid the time and costs of on-camera hosting or talent.
Accessibility: If you don’t want to or can’t appear on camera, AI avatars provide an alternative. They also expand possibilities for animation.
Personality: Add an appealing, lifelike persona that connects with audiences. AI avatars capture facial expressions, emotion, humor, etc.
Worldbuilding: Construct an entire fictional universe or storyline starring your AI avatar. Imagine the possibilities!
So whether you want to swiftly scale a YouTube empire, give your brand a facelift, or simply try something new, AI avatars open up a whole new creative realm for digital content and storytelling.
Step 1: Write a Script for Your AI Avatar
First, decide what kind of video you want to make and write a script. You can write your own or use a tool like ChatGPT to generate one for you.
For this demo, I pretended my AI avatar was a news anchor reporting a silly fictional story:
In a shocking turn of events that’s got the internet in stitches, a man famously known as Dave the Duck has become the newest, most unexpected YouTube sensation overnight. Now before you ask, no he’s not an actual duck – he just identifies as one, yes webbed feet, quacking, the whole nine yards…
Keep your script under 500 characters so it can be used in CapCut. Break longer scripts into multiple chunks.
Step 2: Download CapCut and Add Background
CapCut is a free video editing app available on iOS and Android. I recommend signing up through this link to get 7 days of pro features for free.
To create a news anchor look, I used CapCut’s AI image generator to create a newsroom background. You can also upload your own images.
Step 3: Add AI Avatar and Voiceover
In CapCut, add your script text, then click on the AI characters icon to browse avatar options. I chose a realistic male anchor.
The AI will automatically narrate your script with lifelike mouth movements! You can change the avatar’s voice and even their clothes.
For scripts over 500 characters, break it into chunks and stitch multiple AI avatar clips together. Delete any silent gaps between clips for seamless editing.
Step 4: Customize Your Scene
Add graphics, props, music, sound effects – get creative with editing to make your AI avatar scene pop! I added teleprompter graphics and made the avatar picture-in-picture.
Some other customizations include:
- Circle avatar talking head
- Half-body or full-body avatar
- Different outfits
- Funny voices
Let Your Imagination Run Wild!
Now that you know the basics of creating an AI avatar with CapCut, the possibilities are endless for putting your own creative spin on them! Here are some fun ways to customize and take your AI videos to the next level:
Change up your avatar’s role: Turn them into a news anchor, chef, stylist, financial advisor, superhero, or literally anything you can think of! Pick roles that fit your brand or content style.
Create serialized content: Develop an ongoing series starring your AI avatar in different episodes and adventures. For example, an educational series on math topics.
Incorporate animation: Use your avatar as a voiceover for 2D or 3D animated explainer videos. With a little animation software, you can insert your avatar into animated worlds.
Simulate interviews: Script back-and-forth conversations between your avatar and interview “guests” by recording multiple avatar clips and editing together.
Build a virtual team: Make multiple avatars to represent you, your brand, team members, or fictional characters. Then create videos with your AI team.
Vlog from “on location”: Place your avatar overlays on top of location footage to simulate vlogging from different destinations around the world.
Incorporate graphics and effects: Add lower thirds, text overlays, green screen effects, and more to amp up production value.
Change avatars: Swap in different avatars over the course of a single video to portray conversation or different points of view.
Go viral: Create shareable videos around trending topics, challenges, or memes starring your avatar.
The key is customizing the AI avatars and editing techniques to match your brand identity and content style. Take the extra time to polish with graphics, music, etc. to take your videos to the next level.
